Sniff

Yesterday was the first day of my new schedule...which is an oxymoron...LOL!...since I have done this particular piece of work several time before in the past 4 years. But lets fool ourselves and say...it is a new beginning... And there to greet me to begin my shift at the Relief point where I take over my bus is a guy walking around mad as a hatter..sniffing out of a household cleaning bottle ( it became immediately apparent that this is something he has just began or relapsed to...because as he sniffed and twitched..pushing an empty grocery cart across the parking lot, he would call out to one or 2 people as he passed them...by name...and they in turn respond...then step away quickly....turn and look on in open amazement...a few scampered to the other side of the Park and Ride...sensing he was on the other side of 'not playing with a full deck')..I never would have thought..one could get high from that?...I know when my bus arrived and I took it over and the few at the bay got on, I closed my door and scampered out of there in a hurry...in these troubled times when there is so much freakish actions afoot, I trust no shadow at sunset...LOL! At the start of my next trip throught th P&R..sniffer-guy was still there..huddle in a corner of the bus shed, a little less grin...no twitch..sniffing fumes still though from the same household cleaning bottle...and probably now hours later...the fumes has all but paralyzed motion and senses...but he was now too high to even sleep. He is of that age, and carefully clothed...enough to let me know he is the typical 'Guy next door'...our neighbor who greet us one morning as we both passed on our way to work...and somewhere along the way...he turned a corner...on a wrong street...and I will always wonder...could that be me some day? What a reflective mood I am in theses day?
