An alms house situation

As a bus driver..day in and day out..I see and experience things the average person..never see..and in truth..based on what I observe the media and politicians keep the average citizen a Disneyland state..oblivious to the real state of affairs out there...the average person may see a bad moment in human trials and tribulations..once in a random day in their life..call a radio show or a friend..or throw a hussy-fit about what they saw over a glass of wine in a group..but in all instances..it is soon forgotten..but it is in my face every living hour off the day I work..it haunts me..and the stench of decaying living, scares the shit out of me..because what I see happening to people...especially the elderly..could very well be my plight some day.
Case in point..their is an elderly homeless lady that has been riding on different routes that I have driven for the last 8 years..I would guess her age now to be at least 90..but she is very short and wiry..very difficult to judge such a person's true age...but even though she is homeless street person I have always admired that she is polite and respectful..and not one day have I ever seen her sleep on the bus and be a nuisance..tonight she rode the bus to the usual stop she gets off at in West Seattle..and my heart cried and grieved..she can barely walk now..and every step she takes is filled with pain..yet she has not lost herself..and I wonder..will she soon be found frozen solid on some side walk..not even a passing footnote in day to day life?..this deeply worries me..because we are not doing near enough for our homeless, mentally ill and elderly.
Everyone deserves a bit of dignity..through charity or otherwise.
